Have visited two gardens in Staffordshire recently with some friends. We belong to The Cheshire Gardens Trust but haven’t managed to go on many of their trips this year so arranged some of our own. One was to The Dorothy Clive Garden and another to Rode Hall. Even though it is late in the season the gardens still looked beautiful. At The Dorothy Clive Garden I was inspired to do some paintings of the surrounding landscape. The earth in that area is very pink. The sun was out but the sky, at times, was thunderous so the colours were particularly strong.
