I’m often asked why I don’t buy ready made frames and then frame my paintings myself. Apart from the fact that I don’t paint to specific sizes, I always think that each painting needs to have a frame and a mount that’s chosen especially for it.
This was confirmed the other day when a regular customer of mine wanted one of my paintings in an oak frame rather than the off-the-shelf black one, it was currently in. What a difference it has made! It’s like another painting!
So, I’ll continue to pay the extra and use the framers who I’ve been going to for many years. They are so helpful and we spend ages selecting the mount and frame that are the right ones.
This is the painting. It’s of my studio window and the view across the river. I painted it during Lockdown.
